George Rivaz, CEO of Ariel Holdings, has 25 years of experience in insurance and reinsurance, having held senior positions in a number of companies in both the London and Bermuda markets. He was instrumental in the planning, capital raising and formation of Ariel, and served initially as its co-President, and subsequently President, before becoming CEO. He was also a founding member of the Tempest Re team, having joined General Re to work on Tempest Re's formation in 1993. At Tempest Re, Mr. Rivaz served as Chief Underwriting Officer from 1996 to 1998 and Chief Operating Officer from April 1998, until leaving the company in June 2001. From 2001 to 2005 Mr. Rivaz served as Managing Director of Rivaz Consulting Ltd, a strategic and risk management consultancy to the insurance industry, and from 2004 to 2006 he was a Non-Executive Director of Atrium Underwriting plc. Prior to Tempest Re he worked in underwriting roles, with a focus on developing quantitative modelling techniques, for Wellington's Syndicate 1095 at Lloyd’s and for Munich Re’s UK branch. He holds a BA in Physics from Oxford University. |
