ARIEL HOLDINGS ANNOUNCES EXECUTIVE APPOINTMENT
HAMILTON, Bermuda ~ April 22, 2010 Ariel Reinsurance Company Ltd. (Ariel Re), a Bermuda-based insurance and reinsurance company, and subsidiary of Ariel Holdings announced today the appointment of Tom Hulst as Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Hulst will report to George Rivaz, the Chairman of Ariel Reinsurance and Chief Executive Officer of Ariel Holdings.
Commenting on the appointment, Mr. Rivaz said: “Tom is a talented executive who has been instrumental in developing the analytical and collaborative culture that is fundamental to our success. We look forward to his future contributions to Ariel’s franchise.”
Mr. Hulst has been with the Company since shortly after its formation in December 2005, serving initially as Senior Vice President and, since mid 2008, as President. Mr. Hulst has 20 years of industry experience in a variety of underwriting and management positions.
ARIEL HOLDINGS ANNOUNCES MANAGEMENT CHANGES
HAMILTON, Bermuda ~ April 12, 2010 Ariel Holdings Ltd., a Bermuda-based insurance and reinsurance holding company, announced today the appointment of George Rivaz as Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Rivaz succeeds Don Kramer, the long-time insurance deal-maker who was instrumental in founding Ariel and who will continue to serve as non-executive Chairman of the Company.
Mr. Rivaz has been with the Company since its formation in December 2005, serving initially as Co-President and, since early 2008, as President. He also serves as non-executive Chairman of Ariel Reinsurance Limited and Atrium Underwriting Group, the Company’s two principal operating subsidiaries. Mr. Rivaz has 25 years of industry experience in a variety of underwriting and management positions.
Commenting on the changes, Mr. Kramer said: "George has demonstrated that he is a truly talented insurance leader who has not only a deep understanding of underwriting strategy and risk management, but also a commitment to developing talent throughout the organization. George was a key player in establishing Ariel Re’s franchise, led our acquisition of Atrium in 2007, and has positioned the Company well to take advantage of opportunities ahead. George and I have been associated together on and off for the last 16 years and I have the utmost admiration for his ability. HAMILTON, Bermuda ~ July 2, 2008 Ariel Reinsurance Company Ltd. (Ariel Re) is pleased to announce the following executive appointments:
George Rivaz has been appointed Chairman of Ariel Re (Subject to the approval of Bermuda Immigration authorities). Mr. Rivaz will continue in his current Ariel Group roles as Chairman of Atrium Underwriting and President of Ariel Holdings Limited.
Tom Hulst has been appointed as his successor to the position of President of Ariel Re.
Myles Orchard will be joining the Company in August as Senior Vice President, US Property Reinsurance.
Tom Hulst joined Ariel Re in January 2006, within the first two months of its operation. He was previously with the General Re Group in a number of different roles, including property and casualty underwriting in both facultative and treaty form, capital and risk consulting, and derivatives. Tom was also a member of the underwriting team forming Starr Excess Liability Insurance Company (now AIG Cat Excess Liability) in Bermuda in 1993. Tom has a BA from the University of Michigan and an MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management.
Myles Orchard was formerly US Property Treaty Underwriter with Arch Re. He has 15 years of experience in the Bermuda insurance market, the majority of which has been in property catastrophe underwriting & modelling. A Bermudian, he has a BA from Trent University, as well as ARe and CPCU.
